Colour Ignition by Kathy Cronin & Markus Ehrhard

An opportunity to own a special artwork created for K-Visual 2026

Two years ago, the two Kerry artists Kathy Cronin from Tralee and Markus Ehrhard from Glenbeigh met for the first time as exhibitors at the K-Fest in Killorglin. They wanted to help bring its successor, K-Visual to life, so the two artists have generously collaborated on a series of works to raise funds for the project.

‘Colour Ignition’ is a series of eight slightly different paintings. Each one is being offered separately to anyone who makes a €200 donation to K-Visual.

‘Kathy‘s courage and dauntlessness how she uses vibrant colours in her paintings cought my attention immediately. I even became a collector of her strong art, which is an inspiration for me, says Markus Ehrhard.

‘We discovered that we are working within the same colour palette, so why don’t we work together for a joint project?’ wondered Kathy Cronin.

Ehrhard started with a shape that’s part of his abstract repetoire, applying  acrylic paint very thickly to the canvas, then pulling the paint in two directions with a scraper. The combination of shape and colour is reminiscent of a flame ignition.

After a three-day drying period, he handed over the eight pictures, in the square format of 40 cm by 40 cm, to painter Kathy Cronin, who responded to the form and the colours. In a third part of process, Markus Ehrhard responded with a graffiti stencil tecnique.

The results are a limited edition of eight slightly different paintings, individually signed and numbered. All funds raised will go to support the artists invited to K-Visual 2026.
