Phil McSweeney is a Kerry-based environmental sculptor specialising in willow sculpture, site-responsive installations, and community-engaged art projects. His work combines traditional craft techniques with contemporary environmental themes, creating sculptures that celebrate biodiversity, folklore, landscape, and place.

Recent projects include a major installation for the Electric Picnic Art Trail (2025), a main entrance sculptural installation for Rewild Festival Killarney (2025), and a willow Cailleach commissioned by Fáilte Ireland for Samhain celebrations in County Kerry. This work is currently exhibited at Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco and Activity Park. His festival work also includes large-scale sculptures for An Féile Eile, Puck Fair, and Féile na Bealtaine.

Alongside his sculptural practice, Phil delivers willow weaving and environmental art workshops for schools, festivals, community groups, and family audiences throughout Kerry. These participatory projects encourage creativity, sustainability, and engagement with natural materials.

In 2026, Phil was awarded a Creative Work Development Bursary from Kerry County Council to support advanced training, material research, and the development of new sculptural works. Through ongoing experimentation with willow and natural materials, he continues to expand his practice, creating immersive artworks that connect communities with the stories, ecology, and spirit of the landscapes they inhabit.
